Einride AB announced on 18 August 2026 that it will add 500 Tesla Semi trucks to its fleet, expecting revenue growth to more than double in the second half of the year. The company's shares initially jumped 12% before reversing to close down 7%. The 500-truck order, funded entirely through outside financing, will triple Einride's fleet to approximately 750 trucks. The company aims to reach 1,500 to 2,000 trucks by 2028. First-half revenue grew 26% year-over-year, with expected growth of 60% to 75% in the second half. Einride's net loss reached the equivalent of $117.56 million, largely due to one-time costs from its June stock market listing. Shares were down 43% for the year before the announcement. Tesla's stock fell 0.7% on the same day, showing minimal market reaction to what Einride called "the biggest Tesla Semi order in the world.
Tesla loses senior AI Hardware Director to startup built by former Dojo engineers. Shishuang Sun has joined DensityAI after 5.5 years working on Tesla's Dojo and AI hardware programs - a departure some financial media overstate as Tesla's "top chip engineer" leaving, even as Tesla quietly revived its Dojo3 supercomputer project in January. Tesla has lost another senior member of its in-house AI hardware organization to DensityAI, the startup founded by former Dojo chief Ganesh Venkataramanan and other ex-Tesla engineers. Shishuang Sun, most recently Tesla's Senior Director of AI Hardware Design, left after roughly 5.5 years and joined DensityAI in July 2026 for packaging and system hardware development, according to his own public announcement and reporting by DIGITIMES, Electrek, Seeking Alpha, and GuruFocus. Sun cited work on System-on-Wafer packaging, reticle-size vertical power delivery, high-speed interconnects, and the first Dojo data center as career highlights; Electrek adds that his Tesla career began in the Jim Keller era on the original Autopilot hardware team, and identifies fellow Tesla veteran Bill Chang as DensityAI's CTO. Around 20 members of Tesla's original Dojo organization had already moved to the startup before Tesla disbanded that team in August 2025, according to Bloomberg and TechCrunch's reporting at the time. The available evidence does not establish that Sun was Tesla's single "top chip engineer," as some financial-media headlines describe him - his documented title indicates a senior role, not necessarily seniority over every other engineer in Tesla's chip program. An important correction: Dojo isn't simply dead. Several reports around Sun's departure describe Tesla as having shut down Dojo and shifted entirely to its AI5/AI6 chips - accurate for the original organization Musk called an "evolutionary dead end," but incomplete: on 18 January 2026, Musk announced on X that Tesla was restarting Dojo3, saying the AI5 chip design was "in good shape," with AI5 aimed at autonomy and Optimus, AI6 at Optimus and data centers, and "AI7/Dojo3" repositioned as space-based AI compute. Tesla's own regulatory reporting confirms AI5 and AI6 remain on track for 2027 and 2028 production respectively, with Samsung involved in AI6 manufacturing. What is established is narrower but still notable: Tesla has lost a senior engineer with deep, well-documented experience in advanced packaging and thermal/power systems - the industry's current bottleneck for high-performance AI chips - to a company built specifically from former members of its own Dojo team.

Tesla launches Dog Mode collection with plushie, toys and apparel. Tesla has introduced nine products to its online shop inspired by its Dog Mode feature. The assortment includes two dog accessories, four children's items, a plush toy, and two vehicle pet liners. Although Tesla has renamed the feature from Dog Mode to Pet Mode, many items in the lineup still reference the Dog Mode name. Pet Mode added support for cat and hedgehog avatars and can display your pet's name on the vehicle's display. Here are the new Pet Mode-related products. Dog Mode bandana. This reversible bandana is $15, featuring a gray Tesla logo pattern on one side and a black version on the other. It measures 26.5 inches long and is made from cotton. Dog Mode chew toy. Priced at $20, this rubber chew toy has a hollow center that can hold treats or peanut butter. Tesla lists its material as non-toxic rubber and says it is designed for easy cleaning. Cyberhog Onesie. The Cyberhog Onesie costs $20 and brings the collection's hedgehog character to infant apparel. Its inclusion ties the merchandise to the hedgehog option added to Pet Mode in 2026. Kids Cyberhog Tee. The Kids Cyberhog Tee is priced at $30. It gives older children a separate apparel option featuring the Cyberhog character and the Just Kidding easter egg when you try to tip a robotaxi. Kids Optimus Dog Mode Tee. Tesla's $30 Optimus Dog Mode Tee depicts Optimus hugging the Pet Mode dog. The cotton shirt is offered in white and blue with sizes ranging from 2T through 12. Kids Dog Mode Tee. The Kids Dog Mode Tee also costs $30. It provides another children's shirt built around the dog character associated with the original in-car climate feature. Tesla Dog Mode plushie. Tesla is turning the Dog Mode dog into a $35 plushie. Tesla says the product is not offered for sale in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or Ohio. Cybertruck Pet Liner. These pet liners were already part of Tesla's shop, but they align with the Dog Mode collection, so Tesla is highlighting them as well. The Cybertruck Pet Liner costs $145 and fits the vehicle's second row. Its three-piece layout includes a water-resistant hammock-style liner and two door protectors made to guard against dirt, hair, paws, and moisture. Model S, Model 3 and Model Y Pet Liner. The second $145 liner uses the same three-piece format for Model S, Model 3 and Model Y. It fits every Model S and Model 3, along with Model Y vehicles other than the six-seat Model Y L. Construction of the $100bn (£73bn) project - named Starbase, Louisiana - is due to start next year, with the 125,000-acre (50,585-hectare) site expanding on the company's operations beyond its current Texas headquarters and locations in Florida. It will be used to "support thousands of Starship flights a year with missions launching to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond," SpaceX said on Tuesday. In June, SpaceX shares started trading on New York's technology-focused Nasdaq in the world's biggest ever stock market debut. SpaceX said it aims to launch its first Starship flight from the new Louisiana base in 2029. The facility will add more than 3,000 jobs to the region, the company said. The Louisiana Economic Development agency said the average wage of workers at the base - the largest of its kind in the world - would be 192% more than the region's current average salary. It will also create more than 8,100 new jobs indirectly, the agency estimated. "The historic project will establish Louisiana as a global hub for next-generation aerospace, with the capacity and infrastructure needed to dramatically increase launch frequency and expand access to space," it added. The facility in Louisiana will share its name with another SpaceX site on the southern tip of Texas. In 2025, residents in an area of Cameron County, where the company has testing and development operations, approved incorporating the patch of land as a city called Starbase. Musk has set out ambitious goals for SpaceX, including plans to reach Mars, develop artificial intelligence (AI) models and launch data centres into space. In August, SpaceX and Tesla - Musk's electric vehicle and robotics firm - announced plans to build a $16.8bn artificial intelligence (AI) chip making complex in Texas called the Terafab. The facility aims to meet the companies' growing demand for computing power to support its projects including developing AI and robotics technology over the coming years. The newly-listed SpaceX is under pressure to convince investors that it will be profitable even as it pursues its expansion plans. Its shares have tumbled by more than 30% from the highs reached shortly after it began trading but are still higher than their $135 offer price.
